a very positive experience for me

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsFlexibility and a chance to continue to grow as a person. The more you can handle, the more they will offer you.

ConsThe bureaucracy can get to anyone. In such a large organisation, one must be prepared to live with the many rules that are applicable. Then again, this is the people's money and it should be spent wise.y.

    System-heavy bureacracy

Senior Policy Analyst (Current Employee) Ottawa, ON

ProsSalary and benefits are pretty comfortable and you get decent vacation and sick days, but that is about to change

ConsStrick hierarchy can make you claustrophobic. Most of the time, you have nothing to do and when you do, its to review for the 14th time a paper that will eventually lead nowhere.

    Comfortable and secure

Political Analyst (Former Employee) Ottawa, ON

ProsExcellent benefits, great work-life balance, job security, if you want to work and study, this will be a place to work.

Consnot for the ambitious professionals who want a fast-paced, result-oriented environment. Remuneration is competitive for entry-level positions but there is no performance bonuses or profit sharing so incentives to work harder are not there. Nature of the job is bureaucratic.

Advice to Senior ManagementLessons to be learnt from the private sector on how to reward performance, initiative and. Less bureaucracy and approvals. Less paperwork and more results.
