Pros – - A large and diverse company that offers many career options
- Excellent career development program
- Good benefits
- Well managed company with excellent employees
Cons – - The forced ranking system is abusive to its employees (gets worse the longer you work there)
- Very demanding work environment, which makes it difficult to achieve a healthy work/life balance
- Too many processes and associated sign offs (hard to get your day-to-day work done)
Advice to Senior Management – - Listen to your employees and get rid of forced ranking
- Streamline and simplify the "must do" aspects of your many business control requirements

I have been working at Exxon Mobil full-time for more than a year
Pros – As the largest OIL procurer in the world. Exxon is a example of what it means to make the best of present energy reserves. With the advent of alternative energies long in the horizon. Companies like these are essentil.
Cons – Regulatory and attention to safety has not favors EXXON in the past. Although Government intervention seem half reactionary by FEMA. In short it is a collective response should things go wrong. in response should something go wrong. OIL is not a full proof effort by any means and despite the result of spillage. More should be done by all Oil companies to mitigate the damages if they should occur.
Advice to Senior Management – It is in the interest give the obscene profits for EXXON to rely on itself in the event of a spillage. It is not Rocket Science to put in place that which would circumvent FEMA or reduce they involvement. provided EXXON has a plan to sacrifice its profits to do so. No more should resident stomach the BP fiaso. it is a chance to elevate at least EXXON's view in the world. I am a Canadian employee of a subsidiary of EXXON by way or Imperial oil....thank you.

I have been working at Exxon Mobil full-time for less than a year
Pros – -Good Positive Owner (This could be a con if you have a very poor leader)
-Fair starting pay. (I did start off at $8.50, but I'm request $11.00 an hour due to being an office manager now.(Not Accepted or denied for now, waiting to hear anything back.))
-If you work hard and try your hardest, you can be promoted within a year.
Cons – -If there is too many store owners that may cause you to have to wait up to a month to get a promotion or wage increase if you request one.
-Not all employers at gas stations will pay for your beer licence.
-Very few promotions to earn money (This is a corporate issue)
Advice to Senior Management – Have one person manage all promotions and wage increases. Good job elsewise.

I worked at Exxon Mobil as an intern for less than a year
Pros – As an intern, your work is as valuable as everyone else's. You have the tools you need to learn and are expected to make a meaningful impact. The entire experience is a "try out" to be hired full-time
Cons – Big corporations can be extremely slow and procedural. Expect simple tasks to take longer than necessary. This also makes the company naturally more resistant to change

I have been working at Exxon Mobil full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – If you are willing to work hard and smart, you will be rewarded. The culture is tough, but manageable if you are a driven and self-starting employee. You also have the opportunity to be placed in challenging assignments across many lines of business and areas expertise without changing companies.
Cons – Ranking system is often portrayed as a negative; however, I would prefer the controlled and measured ranking system to having 1 person determine my promotions and career path. Relocation opportunities are often presented with little notice or flexibility.

I have been working at Exxon Mobil full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – safety culture, OK compensation and benefits.
Cons – forced ranking system, ranking gets carried over every year. Each year you can only move 10 points up or down.
career growth depends on who you know in the company and if your manager (only manager) likes you or not.
You never know what works and what doesn't until you get your ranking.
Complete lack of transparency with regard to career path. Works great for people who are willing to let their managers drive their career path.
Advice to Senior Management – Define structured and consistent performance review process as opposed to giving near full control to individual functional managers without appropriate checks and balances.
Get HR to do their jobs i.e. manage performance review process
