As the company grew, I think it slowly started losing its core values.

    Pros

Good place to learn skills coming straight out of uni

    Cons

Account Executive staff turnover is high and not seen as an issue as there are so many of them.

    Advice to Management

Value the AEs and give support and training allowing people to actually develop and get promoted.

    Pros

Great opportunities to develop and grow internally

    Cons

Not much exposure to external certifications or qualifications and salary could be better.

    Advice to Management

As a top performer/contributor, the request for external certifications from me should be considered with a view to enhance and develop my skill that much further, which is therefore less likely to make me look outside of the company for other opportunities.

    Pros

    Decent clients
    Lower Manhattan Financial District Location
    Free food occasionally

    Cons

No direction from upper management. Stale people left over from the old days of CheetahMail are really boring and paranoid and resistant to change. Totally uninspiring and duller than dishwater

    Advice to Management

Clean house, starting with Client Service people who have been there way too long. Learn something about marketing instead of being glorified project managers who just do email. Weed out toxins in the sales team. Close Schaumburg once and for all.

    Pros

Nice, mostly easy to work with people that want to do a good job.

    Cons

EMS's best years are behind it. It's a business run by financial people who see every employee as a prospective money-saving cut to be made. It's best assets are certainly not its people, as they are expendable. The more you make, the more at risk you are. An example of this was last year's wholesale layoff of people in the NYC office, moving jobs to ill-prepared employees in Costa Rica making a fraction of what the New York employees made. The Costa Rican employees were unprepared, and Experian was forced to make offers to people they had previously laid off. Technology was ignored and not invested in for years, and so Cheetah started losing clients to competitors. With little in-house innovation talent, they were forced to buy a not-ready-for-primetime "cross-channel" platform that was panned by Forrester. The Cheetahmail/Cross-Channel Marketing Marketing has not had a leader in a year. Most senior marketing and product development people have left, pushed out or fired over the past 6 months. The latest Experian Marketing Suite is just nice window-dressing on top of existing products.

    Advice to Management

Sell - which is the rumor, anyway

  9. Lots of continuing change - time will tell if it's for the best.

    Pros

Good employee culture with smart people, lots of perks with breakfasts, internal and external training, and good vacation policy. Bright future for the company if it's managed effectively. Plan seems good if it can be executed correctly.

    Cons

Lack of clear direction from management and changing priorities. Bureaucracy strangles innovation and slow moving product updates frustrate employees and clients alike. Many changes over the past year have caused a lot of turnover.

    Advice to Management

Provide clear goals and company plans. Get rid of road blocks and let employees drive innovation. Stop using people to fix the problem and invest in infrastructure and better technology.
