    Pros

Not much to report on pros. They have a sports field where you can play soccer. The benefits are competitive.

    Cons

The current management does not have any intention to create a stable or viable company. I am certain they would sell to whomever would buy the company. The expectation of existing employees is over the top.

    Advice to Management

Give up trying to just make the company look good and try to build a real company that has vision.

    Pros

Convenient east bay location and ample parking.

    Cons

As a former 15-year employee, Exar has been circling the drain for at least two years.VP-level staff over compensated; all are awaiting acquisition. Current CEO (scorched earth management style) started at $500k in 2012, now another $100k in 2014. Annual revenues the same; stock price essentially the same. What are shareholders getting?

    Advice to Management

Take company private, sell off acquisitions and technologies, retire management.

    Pros

They have a gym, cafeteria and good location.

    Cons

Lots of yelling, cursing and finger pointing with Executives. Came from a previous acquisition and was a big clash in culture. This company is very old school, yet they don't really take care of their employees. Old and outdated building.

    Advice to Management

Take more management classes. Teach your employees to appreciate the company so they don't leave and bring in more qualified workers that they can recommend.

    Pros

Have a great team to work with. Flexible work at home policy. All of the team I work with impress me with their professionalism and general product and customer knowledge. Have had numerous opportunities to lean new skills in my profession.

    Cons

Have found that annual reviews have been sporadic and sometimes did not occur in certain years. Would like to get documented feedback on how I am doing.

    Advice to Management

Vacation policy requiring taking time off in specific quarters is a bit annoying. Some like to accumulate and take longer duration vacations. The typical 2 week vacation at initial hire.

    Pros

There are still some truly outstanding people hanging in there trying to make it happen that bring that joy to the job daily. There's enough money left in the bank to make the wide product offering coalesce into a valuable company if spent properly. Most management is flexible with work hours and even allow some work from home. Location is good.

    Cons

A lot of the rest of the outstanding people are leaving for other jobs rapidly or already have. Morale is hurting. The string of recent acquisitions have no common focus and are spreading thin resources around even more. There is no obvious reinvestment in the staff. Depending on your direct management there is quite a bit of politics and abuse. It's just very obvious we're buying revenue with the acquisitions instead of trying to build something. The senior staff are overstaffed and all in place to benefit when/if their is an end-game so career growth is stymied for most everyone else.

    Advice to Management

Increase your communication to your employees on a daily basis. Reinvest in them with higher salaries, significant (not token) stock grants and RSUs to retain them, and more heads to get the work done. Not more VPs please. If you ignore your team, then your team will leave.

    Pros

Some interesting products, that can be competitive
    Some good dedicated people
New products are starting to come out that should help in the future. Many trying to improve some of these aspects but little support from management.

    Cons

    Very few Sales people left.
    No Marketing people left
    No Brand in the Market
4 unpaid days off every qtr.
Lots of new people from acquisitions, some culture clashes going on.
Many good employees are still being laid off or leaving.

    Advice to Management

Sell quickly, business is being starved.
