ProsGives good experience, huge sales focus, compensation for a job well done, training is thorough and makes you well prepared.

ConsDifficult to climb the ladder, upper management can get power-hungry.

Advice to Senior ManagementFollow through on promises of training, promotion, etc.

Not what I expected. Get your experience then get out!

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

ProsCo-workers are great. Excellent training program. Valuable customer service and business administration experience.

ConsNo work/life balance. Long hours. Initial salary is terrible. Redundant and contradictory company policies. Lots of broken promises. Sales matrix is too easy to manipulate.

ALWAYS SHORT STAFFED you will do 3 people's work for 1 persons wages.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop with the lip service and keep promises you make to employees.

Hire support staff. This is the worst job market in 4 generations. The talent is out there, ready and willing to work.

Service Agent (Current Employee)
Ottawa, ON

I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car part-time for more than 3 years

ProsDiscounts on Car Rentals
Work Enviornment

ConsWeather
Angry Customers
Long Hours
Management is choosy with those who get promoted. I.e They pick favorites

Advice to Senior ManagementTry hiring more employees so that more time off is available. Long hours tend to ruin social life and that isn't a healthy balance

summer of cars

Management Trainee Intern (Former Employee)
London, ON

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car as an intern for less than a year

ProsWork with great team of people. get to meet extraordinary clients through daily interaction. lots of opportunity to network and grow your personal network.

Consone thing that may deter people is the long hours a employee has to put in every week. you are guaranteed 40 up to 55.

Advice to Senior Managementone thing to consider would be establishing mandatory flex outs because the grind on the body after a while can take a toll on the body.

What a pathetic waste of 'Fresh Air' !!!

Management Trainee (Former Employee)
Calgary, AB

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for less than a year

Pros-May look good in your CV depending on the type of positions you are applying in other companies.
-Can be fun in the branch (depending on how friendly your managers are. Also the friendly customers make a huge impact of your day and numbers).
-Learn about the hard work and moving on to better things in life. ( and a 'blunt' reminder on why you should have gotten a brilliant GPA in college or/and chosen a 'right' degree stream).

Cons-Overzealous peers - sometime stealing your sales.
-Minimum wage job (with no compensation or commissions on sales).
-Tiring menial job ( depending on your location, and management).
-Hierarchical Promotion (Too much 'sucking up' to do to be considered for a promotion, and oh yeah...did I mention about BS exams you have give in order to get a promotion).

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a life, please!! And, yes be more appreciative and supportive of your MT's or slave drivers or sales agents or whatever fancy name you give your "university/college" graduates to fool them into this position. Make them more happy by giving them better vehicles to drive to their training, and covering 100% of their travel expenses. And stop exploiting them so much since you were also a MT once. And STOP lying so much about you making less than MT. We all know you get bucket load of commissions off the branch profits.
