I worked at Zynga as a contractor for more than a year

Pros

1) Awesome perks: Free meals, coffee, beverages and snacks, and swag
2) Every day is bring your dog to work day
3) Connect and work with some amazing people
4) Create games and help them evolve

Cons

1) Employee retention - losing a lot of talent due to either budget cuts/lay offs or just leaving in general due to environment.
2) Management doesn't seem to listen or care when it comes to great ideas or suggestions
3) Wasteful spending on certain things that led to office closings and layoffs including outsourcing
4) Community to player relations are at an all time low
5) Player retention is poor
6) Listening to advice/complaints is very poor

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on what the players want, that's what is driving your revenue. Take some time and listen to what community/players are saying and make sure the games run smooth. Tone down the cadence, as well as find a way to stick to a budget so you will not have to make "painful cuts"

I have been working at Zynga full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Start up feel with the security of a large company.
Meritocracy - teams that contribute get rewarded as such.
Management team - tons of industry veterans. Most recent reorg has everyone in the right roles.
    Data driven decision making

    Cons

Work life balance is a problem for most. Unlimited vacation policy is rarely able to be utilized to decompress and detach from the office.
High expectations from management with regards to turn around times that are sometimes unreasonable.

I have been working at Zynga full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Nice building, food, snacks. Paycheck & benefits OK.

    Cons

Incompetent management. Pincus does deserve credit for seeing the Facebook wave before everyone else in the lineup, but that's about it. Maybe if he'd spent more time paying attention to what was going on instead of screwing others out of their stock or counting his $ after the best timed secondary offering ever, things would be different. Other big names (Van Natta, Schappert, Cottle, etc.) not worth $100k apiece annually let alone the tens of millions they walked away with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too late...and they wouldn't take good advice anyway.
