Used to be Great, Now just another Retailer with cutbacks

Assistant Manager (MGT) (Current Employee)
Los Angeles, CA (US)

I have been working at Walgreens full-time for more than 7 years

Prosemployees are awesome, you really get all around experience, pay is average, but current cutbacks in pay suck, so not sure about the new pay

Conscompany going through a re structuring which means doing same job for A LOT less pay, VERY hard to get promoted, especially lots of favortism & you may end up at a difficult location and not look as good as a much easier one. Hours vary, no set schedule, often forced to work over night or overtime if a manager calls out without a choice, long work hours without breaks or lunches.

Advice to Senior ManagementDON'T CUT MANAGEMENT pay, YOU'RE loosing the very reason customers go to Walgreens in spite of their markups, a lot mgt knows their customers well as do the employees, and they've earned their raises, to cut them is CRAZY. You'll loose great expertise, merchandising, people skills etc. its evident, shift leads don't provide same expertise as managers.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
