I worked at University of Chicago

Pros – Intellectual community, neighborhood oriented, lots of opportunities, congenial co-workers, beautiful campus, ability to move to different positions on campus, great students

Cons – low pay, the neighborhood can be dicey, transportation options to campus are limited--depending on where you live, very academic and can be a little boring

Advice to Senior Management – I noticed far too many disgruntled academics who never completed their Ph.D.'s in mid-management positions. Some are wonderful at their jobs, but others breed a lot of negativity/doom/gloom that doesn't reflect that university.
