    Pros

Company actions reflect their mission and values. Emphasis on volunteer work. Lots of very smart people work at UHG. Salary is good.

    Cons

Sometimes internal divisions have a tough time working together, causing obstacles. With such a large company, some initiatives take a while to get goind.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Large company with a lot of resources.

    Cons

Political positioning, looking good rather than actual results oriented. Submit or be labled a trouble maker and possilby squashed. Leaders running business segments they know nothing about and then caving to the demands of their leaders, who also know nothing about running that particular business segment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you acquire a company, you'll want to learn the, few, simple key factors that made that company successful and a desireable acquisition. As a leader, after learning these key factors, you'll want to stand-up to your upper management and take a stand on those key factors. If these key factors are in conflict with the way management wants to run the business, then you'll need to have the backbone to disagree with them and demand they listen and adjust their strategy. If you don't have the backbone, then UHC will learn the hard way that they cannot acquire TPA's because they are unable to run them properly and destroy them in the process. Or they will continue their missteps and acquire them, run them into the ground, and destroy careers and lives in the process and ultimately alienate customers.
