I worked at US Census Bureau full-time for more than a year

    Pros

A learning experience that has evolved thru the decades, I worked in the 1990 and 1980 census and hope to work on 2020!!

    Cons

The computer system programs crashing from overloads of info...ya think? A little better planning would have gone a long way here. I was told they had 5 years to develope it so what happened?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the employees more bonuses for accurate comprehensive timely reporting.

Former Employee - Assistant Manager Administration in Providence, RI (US)

I worked at US Census Bureau full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Fast paced very exciting job.

    Cons

No overtime legally allowed, but average work week for all Assistant Managers was in the 50 to 60 hour a week range. During the hiring stage and training stage of operations for thousands of enumerators the average work week was well over 60 to 70 hours a week. If you asked for overtime pay it was immediate termination. Temp. position, no benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is not the job for you if you are looking to stay with a company and have any future opportunities. Of all the 50 locations that I was in contact with daily, they often pit the different managers against each other to get as much work as possible out of the employees.
