Current Employee - Store Manager
Current Employee - Store Manager

I have been working at The Body Shop full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Encouraged to speak up and share ideas
Fantastic network of fellow managers for support and spirit-lifting!
Beautiful products, customer engagement and shop floor environment

Cons

A lot is demanded from managers and assistant managers. You'll either embrace it (expected to 'run' your business rather than turn up and set up, close down and go) or you'll buckle.
Long hours - expectation is to be present and work at least 30 minutes before and after you're rota'd (and therefore paid) for every day but this is often more.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be realistic about the working hours required of managers/assistant managers and reflect that in the weekly scheduling if you cannot reflect it in pay.

I worked at The Body Shop part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    + good staff discount
    + very nice team members
    + quite popular products
    + high nergy in store

    Cons

    - worse quality products than 5 years ago (f.e. hemp and almond hand collection)
    - very high requirements for less money
    - not many opportunities to grow, even if you are very good sales person
    - area mgrs are ignoring staff, tlaking only to store managers
    - it is expected that you gonna come earlier or stay later quite often

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

try to remember the names of people who you are talking to and try to tell them a good word sometimes; try to work in store with people, tlak to customers, not only look how we are doing it; try to be honest to team and treat them well, not only other managers
