I have been working at Tata Consultancy Services full-time (more than an year)

Pros

This is a company that is a world brand. It represents India in world. The brand image is something that strives me. Its gives fairly good salaries to employees. HR policies are okay.

Cons

Sometimes the management will take business driven decisions that may impact the associates in negative way. There is no Green card policy. Company relies on expats to move back to country and sometimes get hit by resourcess splitting from TCS.

Green Card for L1/H1 holders should be thought of seriously

    I have been working at Tata Consultancy Services full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Employment - its a job!
    Client exposure - some high profile clients you can work with

    Cons

    Too many unskilled workers
    No one from the offshore section thinks for themselves they all just follow step by step blindly
    Poor pay levels
    inability to understand international working requirements
    Unable to understand not all countries operate as India does
    Too many people in positions because of cast or family connections who have no clue about their role
    HR fight a losing battle against India HR over legal requirements
    Cant stick to their own contract terms and conditions
    expenses system slow and designed to try and make you not claim
    Appraisal system seriously flawed
    Some policies clearly designed to discriminate against non-indian members of staff
    Management unresponsive to suggestions or complaints even from clients!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Employ people with knowledge not because they are your managers brother in law
    Understand that most countries require you treat your staff as people not slaves
    Learn the laws of the countries you employ your staff in
    Try to realise a happy workforce works 1000% better than one you treat as slaves

    I have been working at Tata Consultancy Services full-time

    Pros

    location availability in many cities helps to employee work in native place.
    brand value of tata.
    wont be fired frequently.

    Cons

    a person can go to less salary than current and this happen many employees in tcs just to fit their curve fitting.
     if manager is not happy then also salary can be less @ appraisal time.
    sir mam culture is worst, employees are force to say sir mam to senior.
    show off wrong information to clients.
    too many employees and they are sitting ideal, they are ideal because company is not have that much project to hire but still salary is cut for them as they are not in any project.
    relocation amount is never given if you go from one place to other and that project is postpone/scrapped due to any reason.
    you have to bring a4 size paper to print and even a pen because company does not provide this.
    if you go for onsite then some time you have to pay bill for guest house.
    too much complex process. e.g. promotion process

    i know no action will be taken so not advise, all are just trying to harass juniors to show senior happy.
