I have been working at Synopsys

    Pros

Management has reasonable expectations and do not push employees to meet unreasonable deadlines. A lot of flexibility given on when or where is done as long as the work is done on time. Perhaps a lot is up to the immediate manager but top management does not micro-manage on these matters.

    Cons

Should be able to find better pay somewhere else. Not thoroughly satisfied with professional growth so far but it could be my problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Overall management is leading the company in the right direction. This company has a bright future and should remain a dominant player in the industry for the foreseeable future.

    I worked at Synopsys

    Pros

Market leader with steady and predictable revenue (and profit) stream. Ongoing investment in R&D with a technology focus. #1 in a variety of product areas.

    Cons

Management is conservative, lacks the risk taking character required to grow the company. Culture characterized by top-down super GM's with sub-units operating mostly autonomously. A lack of cooperation and collaboration across teams. Pay for Performance is not adhered to and is more about who you know and not what you achieve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reorganize and freshen the upper management tier. Retain your top engineering talent and reward them for taking risks and delivering innovation. Boldly enter new markets with spin-in's or break-out teams. Manage your sales force to get more value from the product line. Stop buying back your stock, and instead invest in new products.
