I worked at Potashcorp full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good guys in ug production. Pay is not bad.Promotion from within.

    Cons

All management cares about is muck on the belt. No training for new hires. Preventative maintenance of equipment takes a back seat to production. These guys are killing on average one man per year. Injuries are hidden. Superintendents don't show up for safety meetings, on the rare occasion they have them. Post incident drug tests are dependent on whether you are liked by the superintendent or not.Two underground fires in two years. Fatality rate is higher than hard rock mining, which is far more dangerous. Management monitors employees social media accounts. Any criticism of pcs is met with swift punishment. Hugh disconnect between upper management and front line production workers.Workers are encouraged to ignore mine regs while supervisors are encouraged to look the other way in order to meet production targets. Specifically Saskatchewan mine regulations 336 [1] b,c,d and 336 [2] a,b are ignored because if you followed the mine regulations, the belt would have to be locked out each time you added hardware to the extensible belt behind the miner. If these regulations were followed, production would be slashed. What this means is that employees are forced to install top and bottom rollers on a moving belt. Very risky. Do not work for Potash corp.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Safety should take precedence over production.
