Fun, Entertaining, and Upbeat

Sales Leader (Current Employee) Gaithersburg, MD (US)

ProsYou get to work with a variety of people; whether it be coworkers or customers
you learn a lot about the merchandise as you work there, and a lot of it is very interesting
Unlike the competitors (Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn), Pier 1 stuff is very colorful and unique

ConsIt can take time to move up within the company, and you have to usually be able to transfer to other stores in order to move up
A lot of managers try to low ball with hourly pay (though Pier 1 does pay above min wage), you have to have the courage to ask for something higher
They really push to achieve their goals for the Credit Card we endorse.

Advice to Senior ManagementUnderstand there are good weeks and bad week with results of sales and Credit Card openings

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Worst Job of My Life

    Seasonal Sales Associate (Former Employee)

I worked at Pier 1 Imports part-time for less than a year

Pros: Most of the people I worked with were very friendly.… Cons: I was hired on as seasonal. I was lucky if I got more than 10 hours a week. Everyone was given a name… Advice to Senior Management: Give employees more hours. I get that seasonal employees are only… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More
