I have been working at Oracle full-time for more than 10 years

Pros

Fast paced, adaptive and learning organization. Tremendous resources for employees, customers and partners. Incredible ecosystem of products. Amazing depth to the management team.

Cons

Internal business processes can get very convoluted. Frequent re-orgs can be tiring but it is an adaptive company adjusting based on market conditions.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay can be improved and performance based comp i.e., bonus is sub par to rest of IT companies of similar size. Please simplify the internal processes. All the approvals and red tape suck the fun out of working here.

Allowing to work from home is nice and covering the cost of high speed internet would be even better.

Work's good. Little growth. Zero opportunity. Terrible compensation.

I have been working at Oracle full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

1.) Unlimited resources to improve your technical skills. Great learning curve.
    2.) Great work environment.
    3.) Great work-life balance.
    4.) Brand name.

    Cons

1.) Working on the same things for 3-4 years could really get boring. Internal transfer approvals take months.
2.) Very little motivation. You are not expected to do anything new at work.
3.) The compensation is terrible. The compensation is more like a consulting firm's (max 10% more than the likes of TCS, Cognizant, Infy and all) and the opportunity is like a typical product development firm's (1 out 10000 get to get transferred to the HQ). So, you don't get the goods of having gone to client places to earn better nor do you get envious salaries to stay content in India.
4.) No value whatsoever to the employee. Have seen people with 8 years and more experience also leaving because of the compensation. No such a thing as employee retention.

Ideal only for one who has traveled places (or not interested to travel places), married, seeking a laid back attitude at the work place, willing to retire already.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management doesn't need any advice. They know exactly what's happening.
For the future employees and employees who have joined just recently, however, here's an advice - learn Fusion Middleware - ADF , Webcenter, SOA, BPM - as soon as possible. Get your H1 visa done. Leave the company. Get rid of the frustration. Go places.
