Pros

They have a good training program
You earn what you put into it
Talented upper management
They want you to have a life outside of work

Cons

It's a lot of hard work
You have to do cold calling or as they word it, " favorable introductions"
You have to start with a strong network of people

I have been working at Northwestern Mutual as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

I've been an intern for exactly a month now....This job is one of the greatest jobs a young, fresh out of college or currently attending college student could have. If you're a hard worker that is focused on proving yourself, you will have no problem with this internship. YES, it is a TON of work, but why do something that is easy? It's a challenge that provides great results. The money is good, but overall you are helping families and people you care about create financial stability and security. Most reviews I read prior to accepting this internship say that selling to your family and friends hinders relationships and that bull SH*^ can tell you personally that it is one of the best feelings you'll ever have helping the ones you care about. The experiences, values, and growth within this internship is beyond your imagination. If you do the internship, which I hope everybody does, then you won't regret it. Even if you don't do well, hit it 110% and get a great, great review from your managing director, college unit director, etc. It's a top 10 internship for a reason. GIVE THIS A CHANCE, YOU WON"T REGRET IT! worst thing comes to worst, you don't continue with the company but you'll achieve this:
1.) Personal growth, confidence, time management
    2.) New friendships!
    3.) Stipend money
4.) Great reccomendations from your boss's
5.) Top 10 internship on your resume'

    Cons

-Not totally up front with how much licensing, expectations are(but it's not the end of the world! It's an important job you're providing for future clients, so it's important to know your stuff!)
-Emotional toll...be prepared to dust things off your shoulder. You will have family, friends, close-ones that will ignore you when you call to ask them to meet up. BUT, they are saying no to the product, NOT YOU!
