I have been working at Northwestern Mutual as an intern (less than a year)

Pros

Great people.
Company morals are top notch.
Flexible hours.
Lots of trips for all employees.
High commissions.

Cons

It is a networking, personal sales position for most of the company which can be difficult. You have to have a strong work ethic and be self motivated to do well in this job. Pay is based strictly on commission. You're pretty much on your own when it comes to the business side of things.

    Pros

They have a good training program
You earn what you put into it
    Talented upper management
They want you to have a life outside of work

    Cons

It's a lot of hard work
You have to do cold calling or as they word it, " favorable introductions"
You have to start with a strong network of people

It's a hidden pyramid scheme for recent college graduates.

    I worked at Northwestern Mutual

    Pros

If you know a ton of people who just got married, just had a baby, or just bought a house you have the potential to make a lot of money

    Cons

Management will continuously pest you about buying your own policies and reaching out to those closest to you with the hopes they will buy a policy from you to help you start out. Each managing director is all about themselves and will do anything to make money off of your contacts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit pestering your own employees to buy their own policies.
