    I worked at Microsoft

    Pros

    Free Sodas
Good medical benefits (but not for long)
    Decent pay

    Cons

    Too much politics
    No career advancement
Waste too much time managing up
    No longer a meritocracy
Company lacks vision after BillG's departure
    Run by "know all" engineers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get BillG back before you all ruin the company. It will be harder for you to attract talent if the stock price does not move.

I have been working at Microsoft

    Pros

Microsoft is aggressively doing whatever it takes to stay ahead of the competition. It has some of the best talent to do so.

    Cons

The talent is busy over-emphasizing delivery. Instead of looking at long-term efficiencies and vision. So, overall long-term productivity is low compared to the potential. Lots of effort spent in retracting the mistakes of myopic thinking

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give power back to the thought leaders, and empower the employees more. They are your best resource. Emphasize long-term vision over short-term delivery targets.

    No opinion of CEO
