I have been working at Michaels Stores part-time

Pros

Great managers, fun customers, hard working & friendly co-workers.

Cons

You need to he willing to work physically hard. Rearranging isles, displays always. Unloading trucks weekly & meeting regular deadlines. Everyone is expected to work as a team & slackers do not last long.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is great. Very sensitive to employeess needs. They have a difficult job trying to keep upper management happy, employees happy & customers happy.

    I worked at Michaels Stores part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Nice people to work with.

    Cons

    Hard to move up in this company and some polices I did not agree with like the coupon policy.

    Employee discount could be better.

    I have been working at Michaels Stores full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Diversity of coworkers
    Promotes internally
    Variety of internal programs to keep employees engaged

    Cons

    The good ole boy influence is very clear in smaller departments
    Too many employees in the HQ, cramped work spaces
    Surveys are given to employees to "vent" but no changes are made from survey results, instead departments are reprimanded for honesty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    If you will not address the internal issues identified, stop asking employees to waste time on a lengthy, detailed survey.
