Pros

JNJ offers a great career path within a respected company and category - namely healthcare. Multinational opportunities are at large.
Likewise, JNJ has a strong track record of innovation - allowing you to be at the forefront on new consumer insights and solutions.

Cons

Whereas the Credo is at the heart of leadership values at JNJ - on paper, these values are not always rigidly demanded of senior management to succeed. Allowing leaders to progress within the organisation while blatantly ignoring respect for the employee and for the customer - is happening. As a result, poor role models are emerging for employees to aspire towards.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It might be prudent to take a good look at direct employee feedback for each people leader, no matter how senior - and reasses if the results (shareholder metrics) do indeed outweight the first Credo responsibilities....

    Pros

Access a lot of J&J products at cost of goods. Good work/life balance. Stable company and many business units. Good benefits package to employees including on site child care center.

    Cons

Work from home is generally not an accepted practice in the group I am in. Lack of transparency for career path/development, move across J&J companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to attract stellar performers and solid candidates by offering a strong benefit package including a pension program and flexible work schedules in the U.S.

Truly depends on your Sr. Manager/Director -

    Pros

Seemingly good place to work, very diversified, wins lots of awards and recognitions "Most Admired Company," etc. Global company which still has defined pension plan, and for the most part, some good employees who care about the credo.

    Cons

Was stunned to find some sr. leaders who remain despite long standing complaints against their lack of leadership skills, bad mouthing anyone who leaves their group, etc. Very difficult company to navigate due to decentralized structure - also difficult to get decisions pushed through. Work life balance in some groups is virtually non-existent. Really depends on your director/VP for the experience you may have - unfortunately, mine was dismal. Extremely disappointing experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay closer attention to the feedback by employees regarding their supervisor. There are some management who have been there way too long and are protected - they are pulling down the good name of the company.
