    Pros

    Amazing benefits and endless educational opportunities (if you make the time for them)

    Cons

    Nealy impossible to move laterally within organization, which is structured for the benefit of high-status faculty and administration. Salaries for supporting research staff seems under-appreciative of immense "trickle down" workload and there is virtually no staff support for mid-level employees.

    Advice to Management

    For non-exempt employees, whose annual salary increases are determined by union agreements with the University, completing the "360" annual performance review with supervising managers is a time-wasting exercise.

    Pros

    Benefits are comprehensive and include a variety of items not found elsewhere. Generous tuition assistance plan, numerous health benefit options, fitness benefit, etc. 35-hour full-time workweek for staff.

    Cons

    Bureaucracy is everywhere. Most staff positions fall under the CTW Union, so pay raises, work schedules, etc. are fixed and non-negotiable. Pay rate is based on 35-hour workweek, so take-home pay is less than comparable positions with 40-hour workweeks.
