    I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    The management at my store is excellent and it is like a family environment. Rules are there to make sure that associates are safe. Profit sharing checks are nice and are given twice a year.

    Cons

    The starting pay is at or near minimum wage and raises are small and slow to come.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Front End hours have been continually cut. This is the one area that every customer has to interact with and can not continue happening. We are supposed to provide world-class customer service with a skeleton staff. This needs to change.

    Pros

    Great pay, Flexible Schedule, Bonus Checks, Nice employees, Great Discounts.

    The training is very rigorous and helpful making it a wonderful first job experience as it teaches you the values of customer service. The pay is above minimum wage and the hours are very flexible with managers the stick to your schedule. Friendly business with great values with a lot of room to move up in the company. Nice break system with pay and laid back managers.

    Cons

    Demanding, Strict, Difficult hour consistency, Managers play favorites, Many lazy workers, annoying customers, Boring.

    The job is very demanding since customer satisfaction means working above 110% for long hours at times. The purpose of the VIC Card and keeping the customer satisfied can mean sacrificing personal dignity to rude customers. Managers play favorites, promoting those they are "friends" with rather than those that work hard. Many employees are lazy leaving all the slack on the hard working employees who have to pick up the demanding slack and impatience of customers while the managers do nothing to correct this. Customers are often lazy and the work can become very boring doing the same things for hours every day. The work is fast paced, with managers demanding fast work at all times which can become to much during busy times.
