I was told to babysit the associates and not to put too much pressure on them or they would leave.

I worked at Guess?

Pros

The name brand is the best catch
The music pumps you up

Cons

If you have the wrong DM, you will be a failure. Dont listen to them if you know better.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

In the Atlanta market its the worst. They dont believe in pushing associates . The direction from the DMs are inconsistent and two faced. When things go bad, even though its DM advice, they retract their verbal direction...at the wrong time and make it look like it was your idea.

    I worked at Guess?

    Pros

Product, benefits, And not much else

    Cons

Unprofessional on all levels- especially upper management, lack of quality of life, not enough appreciation, unorganized, unstable. Not much opportunity for advancement. Overall not recommended.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs to be more professional. Advancement should be a reflection of quality of work, not who you know. Appreciate hardworking employees more.

There are no other reasons to want to or enjoy working at Guess.

    Cons

    - Managers do not care or ask anything about your life other than at work.
    - Forced to make un-reasonable sales targets.
    - If you make your sales target, you get no recognition.
    - Long-term employees receive maximum $1.00 raise after 1 year.
    - Guess pays staff minimum wage.
    - Managers force associates to talk to every customer to the point the customer gets irritated and leaves the store.
    - There is no commission.
    - Managers make no contribution to sales and play on their cellphones throughout the day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you have to be minimum 18 years old at Guess don't you think a person that age needs to make a living for more than $8-9 dollars an hour? Considering how Guess is one of the top grossing retail companies in North America they pay amongst staff that aren't management is absolutely disgusting and my dream one day is that how the employees are treated in this company is exposed for all of the world to see that Guess really isn't that glamourous, seeing how 90% of the reviews are about poor management and poor wages you really couldn't back that up without admitting this company is run by selfish people only interested in sales and profits.
