I have been working at Forever 21 full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

The relationships you make with colleagues is memorable. Fashion becomes 2nd nature as your get the first look in new trends.

Cons

No appreciation from company(Supervisors, DM, RM). Poor discount.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always encourage and push people to be at their best, not comment on who they are for making minor mistakes. Actually take the time to use coaching methods. There is a difference between teling and asking but still reinforcing what needs to be accomplished.

I worked at Forever 21 full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

-interesting and wide product assortment to work with.
-if you work under a good management team, you're able to actually do your job, which can be a LOT of fun. I was lucky enough to have a wonderful store manager for about 6 months, and the job was an enjoyable experience.
-first dibs on cheap clothing, that usually sells out quickly.

    Cons

-upper management rarely holds store management accountable for doing their job, as long as store is running smoothly.
-if you are unlucky enough to work in a poorly run store (which I was for several months), you will be expected to assume the role of a sales associate, stock associate, and ops manager to make up for management's inability to control payroll.
-merchandisers are expected to recover, do go-backs, and help with misc tasks BEFORE merchandising. If the merchandising is incomplete, you are still held accountable.
-there is little to no communication between the District Manager and Field Visual Manager, so the store employees are constantly given misinformation and spend a lot of time changing things back and forth to appease them.
-up until several months ago, merchandisers were hired to work Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm. Without notice or consent, the schedule was changed to an open availability and scheduling during any open store hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Store management: Re-evaluate the way you do everything. Hire quality employees. Read, understand, and fulfill your job description. Train, delegate, follow up, and coach your staff. District Managers and Field Visual Managers: Spend time in the stores that are underperforming. Assess the staff. Appreciate the employees who work hard and manage out the ones who don't. Communicate with each other and support your people.

    Pros

This company will guide you to succeed in ways you never thought possible. It will build on the skills you had entering the company and teach u to excell with it. This company strives for pricision and will teach you how to achieve this.

    Cons

The workload can be a bit heavy especially for someone entering their first job. The management strives for results and will find any means possible to achieve this even if the approach is not friendly. Best thing to do is not take it personal and keep doing your job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take it easy on the employees, strive for results by teaching.
