Current Employee - Project Management and Execution in Houston, TX (US)

Pros

Professional work atmosphere. Amount of team support given on a project is pretty good. If you are in the "club" you could get to work all over the world.

Cons

So far the employees are professional and overall intelligent. However the expectations are very high and often times unrealistic, leading to large amounts of stressful situations. Advancement for younger employees is often times controlled by managers with not much experience in managing people. When you first start working they will start determining the highest you will ever move up in the company, which makes it hard to break some preconceived mold they put you in.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Never stop investing in your employees, and always give raises, which often times are the only way to know for sure if you are Doing a good job or not. Be more open with your teams and less of an elite attitude toward others would go a long way toward relationship building.

    Pros

Good pay, smart people around and travel opportunities. The support can be good but it very much depends on your supervisor and manager. Fortunately I have a good manager so things are easier.

    Cons

Long term benefits package to lock employers in. Extremely rigid work culture can be a drag at times. Work satisfaction is not always present as the job can be mundane even if it's for 1-2 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to relax and don't take employees for granted. I know of many young employees who are not happy with the work culture.

    Great place to work

    Pros

Some of the best people work here. Everyone is smart and talented. The ranking system can be competitive but it's fair over the length of a career.

    Cons

EM can be very process oriented which can make it hard to get things done. To be an executive you need to be prepared to move through a different role about every 2 years which means you will be moving your family a lot.
