I have been working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Focus on employees and customers and profit and growth will follow. ERAC/EHI is promote from within - everyone from CEO down has started as a Management Trainee. Promotions based on performance - NOT TENURE! Great place to work with fun competitive people.

Cons

For someone new entering the workforce, 49 hrs/week may seem like a long day, but it goes fast and is fun. Starting pay is okay at roughly $32K. While it seems low, the point is not to stay at $32K forever. If you perform, you get PAID VERY WELL. When you get promoted, they base your percentage off the branch's past performance..... you grow it, you earn it and your percentage does not change.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on training and developing your people. Stay true to your values as you have.

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

From day one you'll get the tools and motivation to run your own business. The entire compensation/promotion system is built on the philosophy that superiors are graded by the quality of the subordinates. This means everyone is there to help and improve your skills. The quarterly corporate training is rock solid. The daily/weekly/monthly training is a product of the quality of managers you're surrounded with. This quality has improved exponentially in the last 6 years.

    Cons

Time, Money and (maybe) peer competition. If you are scared of friendly competition look elsewhere. Enterprise strengthens the best. Monthly spreadsheets rank the best to the worst in EVERY position from trainee to general manager. You'll get your but kicked in high times and with long hours but the experience is worth it. The first couple years the compensation may be just average when compared to peers in other industries but pay jumps when branch profitability takes effect at the Assistant Manager level. With "Enterprise Branch Manager" on my resume I have had doors open themselves.
