    I worked at Electronic Arts

    Pros

Excellent benefits and PTO, company store, free games, etc.

    Cons

Middle management is terrible (clueless). A lot of people are getting paid for doing absolutely nothing. New CTO has no people skills.

At EA, contractors are second-class citizens.

I worked at Electronic Arts as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Exceptionally talented workforce; relaxed environment; cutting edge projects; numerous on-site amenities; solid middle management; plenty of passion.

    Cons

Hiring practices make it difficult to transition from contract to full-time; "second class" status as a contractor, including contractor email address and different colored badge, limited access to benefits, exclusion from events; reactionary upper management practices; constantly shifting internal structure; resistance to transparency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teams can't gel and develop if contractors are constantly being cycled in and out of the system. Focus on hiring a few, really solid full-time people to drive your projects. You'll get far more out of it in the long run.
