I worked at DISH full-time for more than a year

Pros

Good people to work with, marketable technology

Cons

Punch in, punch out, no flexi hours, no working from home, no 360 degree review - so managers are very powerful, if you conflict the manager then you hold a risk of getting laid off in "silent" layoffs

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be practical, improve employee morale by introducing 360 degree employee review, introduce flexi hours

I have been working at DISH full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great fellow technician, independent, 3 day weekends, necessary tools provided, bonus incentives, promotion upon meeting goals.

    Cons

I have been a Dish tech since 2007 and worked my way up to a level 4 technician. After requesting a transfer to another office I was denied and force to quit to relocate. After arriving in my new city I was rehired at Dish as a level 1 technician. Being several hundreds miles away from home I had no choice but to accept a $6.50 an hour pay cut and start from the bottom again

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget where you came from and treat people the way you want to be treated. People don't quit jobs people quit management. We are not Salesman we are Technicians

I have been working at DISH full-time

    Pros

Joe Clayton has brought a new life to Dish Network. I started in the call center in 2008 while going to graduate school. I never intended on staying with the company, but Dish Network, namely certain management, took care of me. It wouldn't be long and I would be working in corporate and over the past few years I have been promoted and given pay raises far beyond my level of expectation and beyond what is the norm at the company. Overall, Dish is not for everyone, this is very very true but if you work hard and show a sense of urgency you will be noticed, you will be compensated and you will be taken care of regardless of where you work. However, if you are a negative, bitter and try to slight the company at every turn it will reflect in your work ethic, your interaction with others and you will eventually be shoved out the door. Great things are happening at Dish, and Joe is much to thank for that. He is a good man, and we are lucky to have him as a leader. Being someone that did not do a business degree and that wanted to change the world and believed strongly in doing good and positive things to enact change, I did not have a favorable opinion of corporations. Joe has inspired me, and has given me hope for corporate leadership and for CEO's that do the right thing, which is rare in these times.

    Cons

There are not a lot of perks working at Dish and the pay is mediocre and not really competitive with other companies in the same field when looking up averages. Dish does not really have opportunities outside of Colorado, well that is to say that they are very limited which is an issue for anyone that wants to relocate but believes in the company and wants to stay with it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Scout your employees actual talents and put them into roles that they are suited for and you will see them strive beyond your expectations.
