Pros

-Hard working employees
-9/80 Schedule - every other Friday off
-Small size - Lots of opportunities to get hands dirty in every aspect of the business
Flexible work hours
-Products are literally life changing (Electronics Group)

Cons

- Work load & expectations vary by solution and boss
- Off Friday's can be expected work days depending who you work for
- Lacking development for the increasing young engineer population - Eng 1 v Eng 4 has similar expectations with no official training/on-boarding
- Technology / Equipment is 15-30 years old

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get on the floor. Understand the highly regulated industry we are in . Spend the money to get back to basics and invest in the entire business. Allow the team to make it ugly without fearing repercussions.

    Pros

    Lots of nice people. Interesting products. Opportunities to solve technical problems and work with customers. 9/80 work schedule. Education reimbursement and conferences. Highly ethical company. Kaizens. Nice campus. Feels like a small company not a gigantic global corporation.

    I'm really enjoying my time at Crane Co.

    Cons

    Most of the mean and cranky people have decided to leave to leave the company and it is nice not having to hear them constantly complain about things that are out of their control. I'm just being honest. That's how they made me feel, I'll miss them but things are better without the constant "me first" attitudes. I'm not judging their behavior but I'm glad they are gone and wish them the best.

    Feature ownership creates learning opportunities
    Managers are supportive of salaried employees

    Cons

    Corporate shows no interest in retention
    Conservative staffing leads to frequent periods of overworked salaried employees
    Legacy projects do not develop modern skills for your skill set

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Invest in employees to reduce the cycle of bright young employees leaving and only those near retirement staying on. There will be problems in the next 10 years when the old guard has retired but the new one is not staying long.
