I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Used to really love the people I worked with
If you know the right people, you will have great opportunities to learn + branch out

Cons

Too many contractors taking over previous full time employee jobs
Many people being let go or quitting who were a real asset to Cox
It is frustrating to see new people being brought in who don't know anything about what they're supposed to do and aren't willing to learn.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The people who have been here for 15+ years and really know their stuff are the people we should keep, not let go.

    I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Pension Plan + 401k, generous vacation, overall employee friendly

    Cons

    No career path, promotions are based on who you know NOT performance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Manage people by performance, train people to move up and hire from within. Management is almost oblivious to anything going on around the company. People coming late or leaving early, no one seems to care. The only people held accountable are sales people, and their sales are posted every day. Turnover in sales is very high; yet there are people in other positions, as high as director, who work 4-6 hours per day whose departments are a disaster, but they are not even talked too. It makes working here very frustrating.

    We are now going through a much needed consolidation, but there is little to no communication or apparent plan. Executives are basking in the cost cutting glow, but people doing the work are suffering the consequences for bad decisions. Atlanta does not have a system and most people there have never worked for a system. Their decisions reflect their lack of experience.

    comforatable work enviornment, good coworkers

    Cons

    This leads to lots of work place stress for employees in customer facing positions, especially technical support and field techs.
