Pros

Employees are always willing to help out a fellow Citibanker. Definitely promotes a team environment across business lines.

Cons

Too many levels of management/too much bureaucracy to get anything done quickly; movement or turnover n middle management results in a lack of consistency in some businesses.

    Pros

    I was able to keep my lights on and feed my family with the help of some savings. The office is located at the Galleria in Houston, so when you have had enough for the day, you can walk the mall.

    Cons

    Desk head is interested in limiting traders term, and collecting trade ideas from his traders to put in his own book. Absolute dictatorship, where the leader works towards a goal of destroying individual confidence and self worth, creating an environment where the trader loses confidence in their abilities, resulting in fear of losing money. Pure definition of individual greed limiting collective goal of making money. Environment is shaped by the leader to keep himself at the top.

    Advice to Management

    Remove the head of the snake, hire a company oriented leader that is capable of looking past his own financial wealth, for the greater good of his employees and the organization. Establish a meritocracy where Desk Head is unable to hire incompetent industry friends, and make hires to establish loyalty to the dictator.

    Pros

    You are in a banking domain

    Cons

    Life is miserable if you do not have good network.

    They recruit for a role of C13 and congratulate you with an offer. Later you see that they offer you a C12.

    There is no drive for internal employees. The internal employees will work more number of years to see that someone lesser able with less experience are hired at a more greater pay.

    If you have left the job at this company and you have shared your mobile number then they will call and haunt you and bug you with (how to do this and how to do that).
    People leave and contractors are hired. Contractors leave and new bunch of contractors are hired.

    It is funny to know that few contractors are working for more than 3 years. The amount of money spent on a contractor is 3-4 times paid to a citi employee yet neither citi employee is given a hike nor the contractor is made permanent.

    Similar projects are repeated in the project / product life cycle. An entire project gets delivered in say Java. Later the same would get delivered in .NET. (The reasons given are funny like improved look and feel or new features)

    I have seen projects where there are 4-6 managers and 2-3 developers working on a project. Each manager has a different meeting scheduled for each developer. The developer has no time to develop and busy in meetings.

    Advice to Management

    Its useless to give advice as it would back fire on you. (Its no good to write against anyone in appraisal reviews as they would get to know who has written what)
