I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Compensation (base salary + bonus + stock grants) are higher than most established IT companies. Plenty of internal collaboration technology to enable work from practically anywhere with an Internet connection. Fairly good autonomy as long as you do your job well (setting objectives and achieving them).

    Cons

Vision/strategy at exec level is very good though execution is typically slowed by too many layers of management. Career advancement is challenging because 1) company is no longer growing rapidly, and 2) not much attrition at senior levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to sharpen focus on execution!

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay, good benefits and the advantages of contributing in a world-class, world-leading institution. Most management is flexible and focused on results. Definite benefit to working in California but the good news is that the mentality is slowly changing and telecommuting is more and more accepted. A case of "eating your own dog food" since Cisco sells the technologies that allow for remote work. Had I not have a family illness I needed to tend to I'd still be there.

    Cons

Has lost some of the agility as it has grown. There are some people who still cling to the past rather than work at making today and tomorrow better. When I was there they were moving to the open concept work space
