Pros

-They pay above minimum wage
-PLENTY of hours during holiday season
-Very respectful of school hours, other jobs, and just general life.
-Great treatment from company
-Plenty of opportunities to get extra hours (volunteer for midnight openings!)
-Store I worked had lots of drawings for cash or lunch or rewards for selling a certain amount or signing up a certain number of credit cards.
-Lunches you get paid to go to.
-They want you to get paid for coming in and filling out paper work. Awesome!
-ETK

Cons

-Management expects you to follow customers around and bother them to buy something. I've heard a few customer complaints on this.
-Most of the people in the computer section were lazy towards their jobs.

Advice to Management

Be a little more polite to customers and respect their personal spaces.
Watch every department for people who aren't willing to work. There are plenty of people out there who would gladly do the job instead.

    Pros

The discount and vendor accommodations are great! The people you work with are awesome and all like to have fun, until management comes around and kills all the fun and happiness of working there.

    Cons

They expect you to live there, meaning there is no work/life balance. They expect you to bend over backwards for the company but won't give you anything in return or make exceptions for you for small things. Too many organizational changes over the past 2 years which has led to the overall best buy culture to diminish and people wanting to leave. It used to be a place where you were always excited to go to work and enjoyed working there. Now, it's a miserable place that's constantly changing policy and are looking for ways to reduce staffing by firing people for stupid things. They're trying to hide the fact they are doing mass layoffs by firing people for stupid policies that are unfair to employees who have no real HR department, just a call center in India.

    Advice to Management

Put back the fun in "having fun while being the best" and create fairer company policies without loopholes for management to find a way to fire people.

  2. Simple retail, non-commission job. Truly nothing special.

    Pros

    -- Great co-workers
-- Some stores have great managers
-- Easy transfers: If you are moving, it's easy to transfer
    -- Easy, straight-forward interview process
-- If you need time off, as long as you put it well enough in advance, you get it
    -- Sensitive to personal problems

    Cons

    -- No room for growth
-- Hours are random, and don't have consistency with your schedule
-- Raises are there, but not high.
