I have been working at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Constant training and always learning, get to make customers happy

Cons

Very stingy with raises, take advantage of employees. Very hard to move up in the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should reward employees who go "above and beyond" for your business and customers

    I have been working at Bed Bath & Beyond part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    The people you work with are pretty good. You get to focus on helping the customers.

    Cons

    Pay is very low for the amount of work that you do. Managers hardly ever tell you you did a good job only point out the negative. They expect you to do many jobs and than get mad if you don't finish. Managers think that they are better than you and talk to you like your a child. No chance for advancement unless you know someone. Haven't really heard of too many employees that are actually happy working there. Basically just there because its a job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Treat your employees with a little more respect they are probably smarter than you give them credit for. Try promoting from within before you look for outside candidates.

    Great if your a key holder. First company i worked for that really does stand behind Customer Service.

    Pros

    Never saying "no" to a customer. The growth of this company is incredible. Incentives are great also.

    Cons

    None really. Hours are long, but if you worked in retail before...its not bad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Some management gets "fast tracked" waaaay to fast and do not have all the knowledge they need to succeed. This leads to not being able to train a strong team to support you and help you run a store.My advice, learn every aspect of the business and work in it for at least 6-8 months before moving to the next...then run a store right and go to district and regional.
