Pros

I noticed the firm is good with allowing employees to take time of for training

Cons

-I was in Credit Risk and it was the most boring job that I ever had
-Weird British culture - certain employees feel that they could take credit for your work or that the credit should be divided evenly. In reality, these employees did not do nearly as much work as the others did on the team.
-If you did a good job on a project that others lack the technical skill sets to complete and moreover, if your work is deemed usable by the team (speaks for itself about the quality), be prepared to be put down by jealous co-workers
-Jealous co-workers will nitpick to find the smallest details that are wrong with your work and magnify them to make you look bad
-Generally speaking, the technical skills(basic excel/Visual Basic) of AVP/above levels are slightly above zero
-If you're a female, everything is a bit easier and people are less likely to get on your back about your lack of technical skills
-EVERYONE COMPLAINS ABOUT THE PAY

Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Communicate with your employees/contractors regularly (unfortunately, I feel that I am stating the obvious)
-Managers know the daily responsibilities of the job that they are hiring for so don't hire people who are overqualified for data-entry roles and then wonder why they are asking you for permission to apply for full-time opportunities with other groups at the firm

    Pros

Barclays compensation package is good especially compared to available jobs in the area.
Opportunities to get involved in fund-raising and charity events.

    Cons

This may be the particular location but there is a 'small town mentality'. Team leaders have an inflated sense of their own importance, and pick their favourites in a team.
Often people will be asked to 'act up' which basically means they get more work out of you than you are paid for - this is not rewarded with the promotions promised.
Team leaders pick their favourites and judge staff on how well they flatter them, not how competent they are at the job.
Bullies are not dealt with, despite numerous reports from many people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train the team leaders on how to assess team members. Ensure that team leaders understand how to see through flattery. If something is promised as an opportunity, follow through on it. The recognition and rewards system needs to be fairer, hard workers are not recognised.

    No opinion of CEO

    Current Employee - Sales Director

    Pros

Very good compensation plan especially when compared with other organisations or similar roles. Good work life balance with abilty to work from home

    Cons

Very political and hiearachical environment, compensation programm might drive in appropriate behaviour, decsions not made in a timely and effective manner

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Skip level meetings important to get a true perspective of the organisation. Speak to the grass root teams to get a true perspective o customer experiences
