I worked at Ameriprise full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Good compensation. Great coworkers. Very good manager who actually cared about his team. You can sell whatever you think is best for clients. Base salary. Leads were pretty good when I started.

Cons

Work life balance is pretty bad, late nights and long hours. Technology is terrible, so bad that its not worth complaining about, you have sales to make. The leads are now terrible, these people have been called weekly for 1.5 years by someone different every week. A few unethical Advisors and Managers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop Hiring and shrink the dept to 150-200 Advisors.

I have been working at Ameriprise full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Ameriprise has a flexible environment and a lot of good people; there are a lot of opportunities to move up into other positions in different departments.

    Cons

There is a fair amount of red tape; as with many large corporations, decisions are often made not by subject matter experts but by the highest paid person in the room.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I'd recommend Management lean into change a little more, hire good people, and then put trust in the people they hire.

I worked at Ameriprise full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Paid licensing and training. The office location is nice overlooking McCarren, and the cafeteria has a good mix of some decent food.

    Cons

Lots of overtime expected. Work weeks of 50-60 hours are typical. It's a call center environment, and churning of client assets and accounts is seemingly acceptable and one of the only ways to make anything beyond base + overtime.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the business model of calling each client multiple times a week from different people leaving identically scripted messages.
