I have been working at American Marketing and Publishing full-time for more than a year

Pros

There is a lot of opportunity for advancement based on top performance. Top comepnsation and benefit packages. Freindly and encourging support from all levels of the organzation.

Cons

The first two weeks in the field is the toughest. However, after the two weeks (learing period) everything runs smootly and your on track to success...

I worked at American Marketing and Publishing full-time for less than a year

    Pros

-Independence...work at your own pace...make sure to take time for naps
-Comfort Inn and Suites...great breakfast buffet...worth waking up for
-Meet great people who are all drowning in the same ocean as you...without life preservers...doggy paddle baby...doggy paddle

    Cons

-Commission structure is not outlined clearly in training...make sure you get all your details before you jump on the homepages boat
-Selling a dying product...this product will not help business owners...nobody looks at these directories...half the reason they don't is because they never get them in the first place
-Gas is @ 4.00$/gallon throughout the midwest...the gas allowance does not cover what you actually drive and actually has been cut by 50$ since the price of gas went up
-RIDICULOUS TURNOVER-DMS INTERVIEW WEEKLY for reps to fill spots after they fire employees or people just quit
-If there are 15 people in your training class...count on 1 making it through their first canvas...maybe 2 if you have a "good" class
-All my text marketing customers in my town DID NOT RENEW for the following year...the text program through homepages is worthless
-you do NOT get a personal company phone
-You also have to work in the winter and have no snow days...Im glad Abe cares so much about the safety of his reps in that big homepages house of his made with our blood sweat and tears

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-DMS:Be more realistic...you know as well as I do that 90% of reps are going to fail
-Honesty? Where is it at? Be honest with incoming employees...you wont have such a high turnover and wont have to pay for employees to be trained

I worked at American Marketing and Publishing

    Pros

If you REALLY need a job

    Cons

As a person who made quota each of the six months I worked there, had 10 years of previous yellow pages experience with the "Utility" book and set a new business record at the time I was there for one of the directories, I was given an ultimatum on a Monday that I "better sell 20 new accounts by Friday or else". My response was, "Or else what?" They fired me on a Tuesday. Best thing that ever happened to me. I hated the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You will NOT put the utility company out of business. They don't even know who you are
