I worked at American Greetings full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Great employees to work with. Laid back environment. People work as a team without haveing management shoving teamwork down your throat. It isn't required to work as a team but we did anyways.

Cons

Union Plant so the people who have been there for years don't do anything. The union allows employees that don't pull their weight to stay on without consequences. This is killing the business.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take time to properly train employees. Find a way to get rid of the employees that have been there for years that don't do anything. I understand if they are still doing the job but when they expect a newer employee to do their job as well as their own you are paying two people when you should be paying one. This is a major problem and needs to be corrected.

I worked at American Greetings full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with, once the longevity was outstanding. They will be moving into a new corporate camous in the next couple of years that will provide a much better work location.

    Cons

The workloads are heavy and there is little support. You will learn by doing, not by training. You will become a self started if you wish to succeed. The work force will continue to face downsizing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

you are out of touch with the true feelings and needs of the employees. The direction and the needs of the employees do not meet. The number of current employees activly looking for work elsewhere will be a shock to you.

I have been working at American Greetings full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The Benifits and pay used to be good for management personnel.
Hours in the field used to be flexible that you could start your day anytime in the morning.

    Cons

The company is looking to do everything on the cheap. Pay for new people. There are also are cutting personnel in all areas and increase work load up to 30%. People have gone from 50 to 60 plus hours a week. Senior personnel are being shown the door because of salaries. You are told you just do not fit the model any more. They can say it to anyone because expectation are set extremely high with not enough tools or help to get the job done. This is being done to people that have 10-30 years of service.
