Very supportive and flexible work study job with a great team.

Student Circulation Assistant (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA (US)

I worked at Emory University part-time for more than 3 years

Pros- flexible hours that are scheduled around your classes
- great circulation team
- quiet workspace
- in the evenings, often downtime at the desk where you can (unofficially and sneakily) do some work (but don't get caught!)
- they covered the cost of hours that I worked beyond my work study allotment, which most work study positions won't do

Cons- midterm and finals season is MISERABLE because everyone's in the library much more and checking things in and out like mad
- the team changes often since most of us are student workers who are graduating at different rates

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Very good company

Office Assistant (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA (US)

I have been working at Emory University part-time for less than a year

Prosnice people. managers were great. very understanding and open to new ideas. Pay was good compared to surrounding offers. Benefits are good especially if you have any desire to stay long term.

ConsSometimes the traffic can be hectic in the morning. Also, hours can be a bit inflexible. Work space can be filled with college students, which can be a little annoying at times.

My experience was a mostly positive work environment, with great exposure to scholars and doctoral-level research.

Teaching Assistant (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA (US)

I worked at Emory University as a contractor for more than a year

ProsThe supervising professors generally care and invest in your ability to think critically and perform well in a teaching environment.

ConsThe pay does not necessarily correlate to the amount of work that is performed; very individualistic as opposed to communal.

A good experience, if you are self driven

Doctoral Student (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA (US)

I have been working at Emory University full-time for more than 3 years

ProsEmory has fantastic resources both financially and intellectually. The campus is beautiful and there are myriad opportunities to get involved in projects globally and within the city of Atlanta.

ConsGrade inflation is a huge problem. Students often feel entitled to an A just for showing up, or handing in the bare minimum. It is a real disservice to their own education.

ProsGreat work atmosphere. Educated community always looking to advance science and collaborations. Very diverse group of people working at Emory

ConsEmory university is a large institution with great funding but is very tight with the salaries for the staff. Higher management appears to be paid well.
