I have been working at Elizabeth Arden as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent Product Knowledge - Positive Motivation and Commitment

    Cons

Would prefer to have a greater budget for Spring Demoing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Elizabeth Arden

    Pros

Everyday is different. You are given the opportunity to meet and help new people everyday. You get to learn a lot about cosmetics and skin care. A gratis fr free product is given every few months. Rewarding.

    Cons

If you are working as a "demo" , or on contract as a freelancer, you are not always guaranteed a certain amount of hours, although it is flexible work for a mother with children or a full time student for example.

It can be challenging as well as frustrating to meet sales targets with so much competition from other beauty lines and outlets.

I worked at Elizabeth Arden full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very fun environment to work in, very stylish and hip. Compensation is on the lower end for entry level jobs but an opportunity for upward mobility.

    Cons

Management is uninvolved with the day-to-day operations, the company discriminates based on ethnicity. Need to take on a lot of responsibility and pick up the slack from other employees, very often in higher positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need to redefine the organization

I have been working at Elizabeth Arden full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good work / life balance, decent pay and employee discounts, summer Fridays

    Cons

Culture of blame, incapable senior management team that has failed many times to steer the company in the right direction, lack of communication from senior management- which has led to a culture that perpetuates anxiety and rumors- no training opportunities, limited opportunities for growth, company constantly trying to meet numbers by inflating last min shipments before fiscal closes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Define a clear strategy, stick to it, communicate it clearly to all employees

I worked at Elizabeth Arden full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Elizabeth Arden has great product. There is some flexibility in your schedule, except for holidays. The salary was decent.

    Cons

No work/life balance at all. If I broke down the salary based on how many hours were expected, the pay would be terrible. They expect miracles, but do not provide the tools necessary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your people. They are your greatest asset.

I have been working at Elizabeth Arden full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Modern tooling: workforce amiable, but their A to Z enterprise process, which include proper training and orientation is forty years past.

    Cons

" Egos, and Department management has rather inflated ones. Front line supervisors are good.
" Tooling is modern, product is somewhat in demand, Directors are full of themselves.
    * But EA is a source for income and most companies have their challenges.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take your eyes off your offices, dream of what can be. A streamlined, "Lean" pick and output.

I worked at Elizabeth Arden full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The best thing about working there are friendships with fellow staff, other than that there's not much to recommend.

    Cons

Micromangement by out of touch and uncaring corporate office, they expect loyalty from staff who are underpaid and just used them. There is zero holiday pay even though we give up our holidays, overtime only when extremely short staffed(they make sure that's kept to a minimal), no benefits for part time staff, and of course hours cut during slow seasons, sometimes to less than 10 hours per week. For that, they expect loyalty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to your staff who are running your stores, you get what you give.

I worked at Elizabeth Arden full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Good discounts on products.

    Cons

I worked for the Elizabeth Arden outlet. It was a terrible abusive atmosphere. Our district manager had a huge anger problem and would fire anyone at whim! We had an employee who was a bully and always got her way with corporate. She set out to get me and my store manager fired, and got her wish! She still works there and was even promoted to my job. They offered little to no training for management, and low pay. Please stay away from this company, it is bad news.

I worked at Elizabeth Arden full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Has hired top talent. Good products.

    Cons

Lack of direction from the CEO. More of a Wall Street deal-maker than a leader. In denial about tragic state of business.
A lot of scrambling at end of quarters to build and ship cheap products without considering longterm consequences. Any sale, anywhere, at any price is acceptable at Arden.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not sure about competence of the Board of Directors - way past time for them to step up.
