    Pros

    Edelman is truly innovative; if you have an idea you can run with it. The people are genuinely nice and put clients first.

    Pros

    Great atmosphere and culture, nice office. Collegues are very nice and there is a "family" feel. Good standard benefits.

    Cons

    Management tries their very best to get away with giving the lowest salaries possible. When you do get a raise, it's minimal. They say they "can't", but truth is they won't.
    No significant growth opportunities. Ideas to improve the process or structure are dismissed.
    Under the surface there are little battles taking place between employees, management does not seem to want to resolve these and avoids them by telling individuals what they want to hear to keep them happy.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees more about what they think.
    Don't treat junior staff like slaves.

    Pros

    Access to sponsored events, decent benefits, office is at the Aon Center. Decent amount of vacation days, when you can take them.

    Cons

    Low compensation. Even if you are on PTO, you will probably be asked to work from home. Lack of work-life balance is an absolute deal breaker, no matter how much alcohol they give you. 60 hour work weeks are not uncommon especially when people wait until last minute to give you a full day's work with a 2 hour deadline. Then, berate you when you cannot possibly finish "in time".

    Advice to Management

    Don't treat creatives like doormats and give them a reasonable amount of time to complete their work. If you give us a day-long project, tell us we have to finish it in 2 hours, and then yell at us because you don't like our rushed product, the problem lies within your lack of ability to schedule or to just say "No" to clients.

    Pros

    The people are fabulous, great benefits package, office culture is good, and lots of great incentives.

    Cons

    Lack of organized structure at times, no clear direction to grow your career.

    Consistency is key with staff and providing feedback and support.

    Good culture, intelligent senior most leadership, on the cutting edge of the industry

    Pros

    We have some of the smartest people in the industry. We also have the best employee engagement programs I've ever seen in my career.

    Cons

    We work A LOT. This, however, is not unique to Edelman. It's an industry thing...

    Pros

    Excellent name to have on a resume. Many learning opportunities. Strong digital practice. Well-known, high-profile clients. Many employment engagement initiatives.

    Cons

    Junior staff are expected to work long hours, with minimal financial compensation. Minimal on boarding process - several people quit within first couple of months. Senior leaders are too busy to provide guidance or support to junior staff. Feedback process is intimidating.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more junior staff, and pay them more. Many junior staff are investing their evening hours, and cannot always make rent.

    Unique and valuable thought leadership,
    Strong thought leaders.
    Top clients.

    Cons

    Highly political, excellence and performance are not enough to succeed.
    While they preach balance, there is an expectation to put clients first, no matter what.
    Lack of support in emerging technologies.
    Lack of leadership development.

    Advice to Management

    If you choose to invest in a new area or practice, be prepared to invest in hires beyond the sell the work and then we will staff it. If not, you will loose opportunities to excel, learn and provide great service to clients.
    Investing in your Leaders from Directors up will increase your leadership capacity and potential.

    Pros

    -Lots of perks, parties and incentives
    -Interesting clients for a smaller city

    Cons

    -Management doesn't notice highly unproductive team members and aggressive senior staff who desperately need management training.
    -Low salaries for middle managers

    Advice to Management

    Stop playing favourites, reevaluate staff members that are roadblocks.
