Current Employee – been working at Eaton full-time for less than a year
Pros – Friendly people and knowledgeable interviewers.
Great program designed for new grads.
Fair compensation and good benefits packages.
Huge company with room to grow.
On going training and coaching to LDP hires that helps them get to where they want to be.
Cons – The interview process took a little longer than they intended and kept the candidates wondering, would be good for them to keep their timeline.
Advice to Senior Management – Never change :)!

Current Employee – been working at Eaton full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – A caring company that believes the wellfare of their employees affects the bottom line in a positive way.
Very good work life balance.
Good benefits.
The people are relaxed, not formal. Good for me, but not for everyone.
Cons – Work experience and satisfaction may vary upon location and business unit, true with any global company.
Holiday time off is very back end loaded. You get the time off, but most of it is at the end of the year, from Thanksgiving to the new year. After that it is a long drought. You can use your vacation time to break it up if you want.
The interview process is painfully long. While it seems to successful in getting the right person for the jom, most of the time, the length of time that it takes may turn off some people.
Advice to Senior Management – When contemplating the hiring of a contract who has been working for you for close to a year you should already know if you want to hire them full time or not. The interview process is a waste of time for both them and any other individuals that you interview for the position. You have had a year to interview them, they are a known quantity, either you want them or you don't.

Current Employee – been working at Eaton full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – good pay. safe working conditions
Cons – No Bonus's other employees tend to be very cut throat and Harrass other employees
Advice to Senior Management – offer insentives like bonus's for high productive score with out scrap, bonus's for reduction of scrap. Say thank you not with a new watch but with cash bonus's Holiday time offer a turkey. People tend to think upper management don't appreciate thier skill, That makes the company operate and perform and produce the product in turn makes the share holders money.

Former Employee – worked at Eaton full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The foundation of Eaton and the Vision, Mission, Values, and Work Philosophies are solid. Overall teh work systems and tools are good and Eaton's reputation seems solid in the market with customer and potential employees. Career advancement opportunities are good.
Cons – Big company - so, not very flexible and agile. Recent acquisitions have grown the business to the point - leadership talent is spread very thin in key roles. This is a conservative and risk adverse company. Core focus is diversified industrial - OEM - and to a lessor extent service. Service as a growth engine has taken a step back 2012/2013.
Advice to Senior Management – Restore the leadership structure with strong domain experts and correct skill sets/competencies to run the various businesses. Leadership roles are not being filled based on who is the most competent to get the job done - but, more via corporate politics.

Current Employee – been working at Eaton for more than 8 years
Pros – - 401k and separate pension plan
- highly ethical
- environmentally friendly
- community conscious
Cons – - degree requirement
- requiring willingness to relocate to be considered for management positions
Advice to Senior Management – - consider experience, not just degree standing
- don't allow "willingness to relocate" (or desire to stay put) to rule out potential managers

Current Employee – been working at Eaton full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Eaton hosts a variety of good people to work with. I don't generally have issues getting along with people here. I see them trying to improve things on a regular basis even if it's not too effective all the time.
Cons – It's not too bad yet, but the yearly reviews and "apex" goals are getting a bit tiresome and overly micro-managed.
Advice to Senior Management – What you measure is what you get. If you set a goal and measure number of E-Stars sent, you lean how well we followed orders to send E-Stars. You don't get a reading of participation, you don't create an atmosphere of congratulations or sharing in achievement. Instead, when I get an E-Star, I assume someone is meeting their APEX goal. Instead, foster the atmosphere simply by doing it rather than by requiring it.
Requiring patents is even worse. You're forcing us to waste our time trying to fill a goal even if we have no good ideas. This is what causes us to do something stupid and useless and sell it as good for the sake of fulfilling a goal. Teach us how to do patents and what is patentable then reward people sufficiently and they'll WANT to come up with ideas. Requiring it makes us simply want to quit.
Offshoring... As much as you think it saves you money, working with a team overseas is difficult, morale-decreasing, and painful. Less gets done in more time, the people get frustrated, and we can say nothing about it because we're forced to use them. If you want a presence outside the US, have them do business with people outside the US. For business in the US, keep the people working on it in the US.
