I've had a very pleasant experience, for the most part.

Book Keeper (Current Employee) Los Angeles, CA (US)

ProsThey treat you very kindly. Shower you with gifts. My boss took me out to dinner. He tried to get fresh.

ConsVery picky about personal attire. Management wants you to dress very professionally each and every day. Ladies need to have skirts. Men need jacket and tie.

Advice to Senior ManagementLoosen up lighten up, it's artsy. You need to put in a clothing allowance if you insist people dress in a specific way.

ProsThe firm supports your professional development, the firm is structured and organized and highly professional, people are nice for the most part.

ConsSalaries are very low and salary increases are not in line with your performance reviews; almost impossible to negotiate a salary increase; you feel like you're just a number there and nobody cares if you stay or leave.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Los Angeles, CA (US)

Pros- Lots of opportunity for firm-sponsored activities outside of your normal job duties, including community service events

    - Everyone I've met is super nice :)

Cons- If you're not client-serving, career advancement seems more nebulous
    - Technology (including basically everything on / about our laptops...) at the firm could use some improvement...

    Travel and career intertwined

Advisory Senior (Current Employee) Los Angeles, CA (US)

ProsA very young consulting practice which allows for a lot of growth opportunities. The senior leadership also encourages all employees to participate and share ideas.

ConsIf you don't like travel, then EY is not for you. Traveling employees do not have an office, but utilize hotel offices. This can sometimes be challenging for getting to know people in the office.
