Good overall company with excellent benefits

Senior Solutions Architect (Former Employee) White Plains, NY (US)

ProsI liked the remote worker flexibility and collaborative mentality. Lots of technical talent to bring to bear when solving issues. Opportunities to move to other areas within the business as well as partner businesses such as VMware

ConsWork/Life balance can be tough. Sales is a revolving door which makes other parts of the delivery and customer sat process a challenge.

Mostly great people with a few laggards

Advisory Systems Engineer (Current Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsOn the whole, a hard working group of pros who are intelligent and have a good understanding of the ecosystem - peers, competitors, partners, and adjacent businesses. The company is making the transition from a legacy storage business to a next-gen stack provider with Pivotal and VMware in the mix and is poised to be one of the few survivors of this epic transformation of the IT industry. Job mobility is reasonably good and career opportunities are good.

ConsLaggards remain who only want to sell big boxes of disks, and many still don't understand the difference between infrastructure and what cloud really means. Fortunately, these are the minority and this group is shrinking.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep pushing the federation story but bring the organizations much closer together.

    Sales culture

Systems Engineer (Current Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsAlot of technology, most of it industry leading. Good quarters can be lucrative. Plethora of training available.

ConsPressure. The sales quotas go up every quarter. High turnover of account teams leaves engineers constantly looking over their shoulder. Management is also very stressed and have tendency's to take it out on team members. No real office. Sit in different location each day due to flex office space.

Advice to Senior ManagementLighten up. They are engineers, not soldiers or puppets.

Learn the technology then find a better company to build your career

Technical Support Engineer (Current Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsGreat technology, training and work from home

ConsLack of diversity, poor work life balance. Very difficult corporate culture, not a good place if you are female or a minority. There's a reason why this company is never on the 'Best Companies to Work for' list!

Advice to Senior ManagementThere's no hope here. Any change would mean they would not have jobs.

    Employee Experience

Project Manager (Former Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsEMC is a top company to work for. They offer strong leadership, onboarding, training, team support and structure that assists in the successful completion of projects and customer satisfaction

ConsSome projects are bid without full input from the delivery team creating some issues to complete work in the timeframes with high quality required

Advice to Senior ManagementEnsure to validate with Key team members timelines and process and solutions at beginning in SOW creation for projects to better understand project deliverable expectations.

    Always changing landscape of opportunities

Senior Manager Consulting (Current Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsWas very entrepreneurial and some areas are still. Plenty of different discipline areas to explore and develop in. Customer satisfaction driven organization.

ConsBecoming very bureaucratic in it's operations. Less cross role flexibility, meaning your role is all you're to be working on. Lost the basis of a good consulting organization. People are turning their brains off to work within the constraints of the machine that is being built. Doesn't seem to be improving consulting revenue.

Advice to Senior Managementif you want to stay effective and relevant, as a consulting services provider, you need to benchmark better against highly successful consulting organizations, especially for consultant retention and development. If you just want to be a body shop, then continue your path of rate erosion and lack of entrepreneurial outlets.

ProsWilling and able team member are always there to help out. There are always new products to learn about so it keeps your mind fresh for your career

ConsThere is too much finger-pointing. Also, though the amount of work that there is to do can be daunting, some try to push off the workload too much to others

Advice to Senior ManagementIt would behoove management to be more in-tune with what goes on in the field

Great Place - fun - fast moving - never bored

Senior Project Manager (Former Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsWork / Life balance. Planned own schedule and work meetings. Great tech company. Plenty of opportunities to move into different positions.

ConsEnd of Quarter Stress. Too much pressure to close the quarter. Driven quarter to quarter. Super high focus on sales. Even for post sales positions.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good work!
