I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Nice time members, very organized shores, very good training, management is supportive, easy job tasks.

    Cons

Part-time positions get few hours and it´s not easy to get full time position. Pay is not too much. High turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should pay more to keep your employees.

I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Nice co-workers and supervisors. Flexible hours for a busy student. Been working here for over a year and this is a good pocket money job.

    Cons

My supervisors work very hard, but should be paid more/ receive more recognition from management. No benefits(even though they said they had some), sometimes paid incorrectly(did not get paid extra for holiday work), no raises(no matter how long you work there for).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should give good supervisors promotions and chances to move up the ladder. Have more realistic daily task goals for each store/employee. Too much work to do and so little time!

I have been working at Dollar Tree

    Pros

Staying busy and organized is what I know. I been in customer service for about 16 years and as a manage . I understand working smarter and not harder.

    Cons

The down side i could see would be not having what a customer is looking for on hand , nothing like an disappointed customer.

I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I am lucky enough to work in a great, clean store. Everyone in my team is willing to work hard and we have fun doing it. The management system is good too, as well as there are opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

The pay is tolerable given the type of retail environment, however if I were the breadwinner or lived in a single income household, even as management, it wouldn't be enough to live on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dollar Tree is already known for preferring to promote from within, keep that up and live by it whenever possible.

    Pros

all of my coworkers and managers are extremely friendly, the work is not difficult and upper management is always willing to work around your schedule

    Cons

the pay sucks--but thats more of a corporate thing--and the hours are not that great, the customers are surprisingly stupid 90% of the time

I have been working at Dollar Tree

    Pros

At it's basis, a very easy job. Can be a great first job, but overtime can become very demanding of senior employees

    Cons

HORRIBLE pay, lots of people in management just there for the paycheck, internal promotions take FOREVER. Even though the company has a strict non-fraternization policy, it is not enforced.

I have been working at Dollar Tree

    Pros

The Local Corporate Leaders are very supportive. They provide an environment for making mistakes and learning. There is an opportunity to bonus monthly.

    Cons

One benefit that is dangled during the interview is 'work life balance'. It was expressed to me that the salary is low but in return this was one of the perks. I have not experienced this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As a nuts and bolts company, the lack of investment in training and a better salary, has contributed to the high turn over in Store Managers and ASM's. Invest in the people and they will stay with you. Your commitment to promoting from within is commendable but the commitment to grow these leaders doesn't match.
