I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Nice time members, very organized shores, very good training, management is supportive, easy job tasks.

    Cons

Part-time positions get few hours and it´s not easy to get full time position. Pay is not too much. High turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should pay more to keep your employees.

I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Nice co-workers and supervisors. Flexible hours for a busy student. Been working here for over a year and this is a good pocket money job.

    Cons

My supervisors work very hard, but should be paid more/ receive more recognition from management. No benefits(even though they said they had some), sometimes paid incorrectly(did not get paid extra for holiday work), no raises(no matter how long you work there for).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should give good supervisors promotions and chances to move up the ladder. Have more realistic daily task goals for each store/employee. Too much work to do and so little time!

    I worked at Dollar Tree

    Pros

Pay is good. Bonus opportunity. 15 percent discount on stock purchases. Always busy. Chance to show merchandising skills.

    Cons

    Hours
You work all the time. You have a ton of employees that work less than 15 hours a week so they are never available when you need them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More full time positions. Salary assistant managers so they can work more as needed. Each store needs 3.

    Pros

    Cons

Poor pay, poor hours, poor corporate... big corporate small care for its employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach. Do the work you order your employees to do. Or at least know how to do it right.

I have been working at Dollar Tree full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay if you are in mgmt./ good benefits. Good opportunity for growth. Upper mgmt. is very decent to store managers on store operations as long as you have a plan of action and your store makes good business sense.

    Cons

Sick pay is non existent even though you are given ample hrs, you can only take it 40 hrs at a time. Just like any other job it is cutthroat competition and can be petty between stores/mgmt..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your people first and foremost. they will take care of your customers. Minimum wage for hourly workers is not good enough. Even a little extra effort to show you appreciate them will earn you loyalty and the support you are looking for at all levels, not just your mgmt. team. Also monitor a little closer the wage gaps that do occur in your mgmt. teams and for what reason. Some cashier promoted mgrs. are making a whole lot more than tenured degree holding mgrs. because of personal relationships.

I worked at Dollar Tree full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Always two people working so that managers and cashiers can get stuff done

    Cons

Once a store gets broken its hard to fix. Some times stores go with out a store manager for a year or two

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use some of the money that lines the pockets of the share holders to fix some of your stores

I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It's retail without the price checks (for the most part). The work environment in my particular Dollar Tree is very relaxed and I enjoy my time there, it's a great part-time job. Pay is minimum wage to start but (very small) annual raises are given.

    Cons

If you're promoted or the minimum wage happens to rise, your raises are erased. That wasn't fun. No benefits of any sort for associates.

Our managers always seem stressed out and overworked..
