Current Employee - Assistant Vice President - Technology in Saint Petersburg (Russia)

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time

    Pros

This is place where technology meets and finance. We build vast majority of technology to the bank including connectivity, pricing, risk, data warehousing. On a business there is fx, fixed income, money markets, options - so all verity of financial instruments are for you. If you enjoy finance and (server side) technology it would be the best place to work in St. Petersburg.
Company provides good opportunities for trainings including all soft of soft skills, technology skills and participating in relevant meetings.
For graduates there is amazing Java School which not only teaches with advanced (and demanded in real world) tricks in Java but also provides jobs with amazing compensations.

    Cons

Getting promoted to managerial positions might be tricky in some teams (however is relatively easy in others)
Big distance to the actual business built by organisation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you could do one thing do this: close the gap between business and IT organisation

    Pros

great place for emerging talent and to make a name for yourself.

    Cons

compensation, technology, senior management, too much politics and not enough collaboration

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Division heads need to better scrutinize who they have managing their businesses. Corporate politics is detracting from any business taking place as business heads are more concerned about personal gain than focused on growing the business.

Former Employee - Vice President in Hong Kong (Hong Kong)

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

DB has a great graduate training program, with very structured training material and classes with rotations on various desks and great people who manage the whole program. Lots of smart and very capable people working in the bank.

    Cons

Sometimes there are some limitations on the IT side of things in terms of infrastructure investment and sometimes there appears to be a lot of internal competitions between people for business etc - but that may be expected of any bank

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I think having more personal growth would be very beneficial with courses for personal training, development and growth; management programs etc;

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

In the US they give great benefits, a lot of vacation time and good health insurance.

    Cons

The place is shambolic. It is constantly re-organising, nothing can get done. There is a lot of internal politics. Any staff you have in big cities are likely to get relocated, which can be good if you are looking for a change of lifestyle and enjoy North Carolina.

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of the employees are not very bright, so you if you have an average intelligence, you can stand out and do the job.

    Cons

1.) Senior management don't appreciate hard work from junior employees. They are just there to collect their paycheck, protect their crony friends.
2.) Software systems are horrible. It's a hodge podge of half baked systems put together by band-aids.
3.) 90% of the old fogies hate their job and are just there to support their families. It will be another 15-20 years before the old scabs are replaced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire 60% of you rstaff that is 40 and older. They add no value.

Former Employee - Financial Services in Birmingham, England (UK)

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent fellow staff; very well positioned site in the centre of Birmingham; good social life associated with work and the site managers made an effort to maintain the energy levels of the staff

    Cons

Treated too much like an external service provider to London by some of the senior managers in the bank, and not like part of the same company. Too many senior managers in DB looking to blame others for major projects not being delivered rather than look for solutions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None for Birmingham Management; but London Managers could learn to work more collaboratively with the very talented staff they have in Birmingham.
