Former Employee – worked at Dell full-time
Pros – - Dell is investing a lot in training technical support staff for enterprise products.
- Many opportunities for promotion: moving up to management positions can go fairly quickly if you perform well.
- Dynamic, project- based working environment. More like a beehive, where movement across verticals is promoted.
- Less administrative boundaries and burdens than most companies.
- Nice and professional people to work with.
- Clear mission
Cons – - Strong friend & family culture in Dell Cherrywood ( check who's affiliated to whom).
Advice to Senior Management – More support and attention for employees when dealing with pressure from work, that human aspect is a bit missing.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Dell full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Looks great on your resume and is a perfect place to learn and grow your skillsets. Good remote working policy.
Cons – Too much politics and don't promote from within. Constantly cutting back on operating costs to the point where they don't even have holiday parties anymore.
Advice to Senior Management – Promote more from within
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Dell full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Extensive training and learning resources provided. New initiatives rolled out even though some don't last very long due to lack of implementation resources.
Cons – A lot of uncertainty currently, hiring freezes, favoritisms all play a role on reducing morale. Frequent problems with certain working resources making getting the job done more difficult.
Advice to Senior Management – More transparency for immediate management
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Dell
Pros – Loads of autonomy and opportunity to own the set of responsibilities a specific role has. It’s a good place to learn and grow as long as your goal is to learn and grow and not to boot strap your way to some jive-assed job grade change by stepping on the necks of others.
Cons – The downsides revolve around a healthy dose of senior and executive level managers that are half involved in actual business issues. It’s very typical for leaders in the organization to devote the bulk of their time to their own career management and coordinating, not for actual business results, but rather to position material for the next ppt review. This issue often leads to hazy business goals, bailing on business vision and frequent organization restructuring – all of which leads to creating a vortex of crushed morals and ambiguity on purpose of walking into the doors each morning.
Advice to Senior Management – Let people become experts in their verticle. Dell experience does not trump competency.

Current Employee – been working at Dell
Pros – Awesome place to showcase your skills, you will be allowed to voice your opinion. If you see a problem or an area of improvement and have a solution, most time management will give you the go ahead to execute.
Dont just come with a problem, suggest a solution as well.
Dell has a competitive workforce
Managment respects employees.
Understands work life balance and considers personal situations and time-offs
Cons – Promotions and pay raises are hard to come.
A very high attrition rate and it seems there is no mechanism for employee retention.
Most coworkers across different segment are demotivated and looking to move.
Employee feedback does get too far. But your comments and suggestions are definately patronized.
Poor communications between departments, regions and management.
Lately, there have been quite a few impulsive expensive decesions by upper managements.
Seriously lacks process standardization, every region has evolved in isolation and what works in North America may not work in Euope
Advice to Senior Management – Senior management should increase communications through the company, Just a blog is not enough.
Have a concrete 5 year plan and execute it. The decesion to shutdown Edmonton and Ottawa sites is an example of how much investment was lost due to poor planning.

Current Employee – been working at Dell full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – You get the opportunity to really contribute your ideas and add value in Dell. It is a collaborative environment where you get to work with global teams and work in a flexible way in many roles - outcomes are valued over facetime.
Cons – The pace of change is very fast - you need to have a flexible, adaptable mindset to thrive.
Advice to Senior Management – Take more time to assess the impact of changes.

Former Employee – worked at Dell full-time for more than a year
Pros – Internship program and full-time compensation for engineer out of college was highly competitive. Felt there was a great amount of growth opportunity and latitude to do the right things
Cons – Working in the manufacturing end of the business proved to be short term. Dell outsourced about 18 months into full-time position, however they did take care of all of us by ensuring we had equal pay jobs available in the company that won the outsource contract
Advice to Senior Management – Don't get too caught up in the metrics running the business. Might miss the big picture and biggest impacts.

Current Employee – been working at Dell full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – -very good company Culture
-pays better than other IT companies
-overall good work/life ballance
-lots of career oportunities
Cons – -yearly wage increase is a joke... initial salary or salary you get from promotion will likely not change very much yearly
-although it is shifting to services, Dell is still a HW company in the way it does things
-very high biroucracy, sometimes frustrating
Advice to Senior Management – -get things done faster and simpler
