    Pros

Always hiring so its pretty easy to get on. They also do lots a rehires but if your looking for a steady job its not bad.

    Cons

Always hiring can be a bad thing as well because its hard to gain consistency in the position and management expect the same high levels of output regardless.

I worked at Dart Container full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you live in the Mason area it is probably the best employer. Company promotes from within and rewards tenure. A great place for non-degreed/unskilled workers to ascend in career as there doesn't appear to be an obvious focus degrees and training for the roles available.

    Cons

The company appears to reward ONLY tenure. This had lead to many people reaching management levels that they themselves are unqualified for and would not have reached at other companies. Company doesn't pay well and it's apparent with the talent in place (low tier pay gets you low tier talent), which leads to a bloated organization. Very inefficient, poor communication, no cross-functional teamwork to speak of. These things lead to poor decisions and copious amounts of rework that could be avoided if the decision makers had the talent or foresight to recognize their impact. Company is reactive in nature and already behind competitors in markets that aren't foam.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are truly concerned with the success of this company repatriate and take a more active role in the management of it. Rid it of the employees that don't add value and reduce the amount of internal complexity. You're making cups not cars. Also stop forcing the foam model into other segments or you business. They are all different and won't be successful until you treat them as such.

    Pros

Casual dress, good benefits, solid business position. As long as one works hard, they will move up quickly. Senior management is easy to approach.

    Cons

The company has changed somewhat since purchasing Solo, and sometimes the growing pains can be difficult to deal with, especially as a legacy Dart employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget about the employees that have been here for years.

    Current Employee - Machine Operator

I have been working at Dart Container full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Used to be benefits, but even that is waning. More & more things taken away from us. Hard working PRODUCTION employees.

    Cons

Poor leadership starting with the plant manager. Constantly feeding us lies. Benefits dwindling, but "You have to look at these new policies as a whole, not one by one". Work 12 hours, will only get 8 hours holiday pay. Have to pay company BACK when paid to do jury duty. Finally get personal days, oh, but wait...not paid & have to give at least a weeks notice. Bonus program a joke. No incentive to do good work. Mediocre employee gets same bonus as one who works their butt off. 24/7 plant, but all maintenance goes home by 4pm. More maintenance personel than machines, yet nothing runs well at all. Have cell phones to call in maintenance, but phones are left in maint. supervisor's office. If things are going good, "Boy, thanks to maintenance, we hit our numbers!" If things are bad..."Damn production!" Favortism runs rampant. Communication...what communication? Morale is the lowest we've ever seen. Only thing keeping people here is, lack of jobs in community.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Visit ALL your plants. Visit with the EMPLOYEES! Ask how they feel. Don't let upper management put their spin on things. If Bob Dart would guarantee that no jobs would be lost, he'd get an earful!
