I have been working at Darden part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Laidback management that is not too hard on the employees and lets them work without interference from the higher ups.

    Cons

No real cons as my experience as a server. It was always straightforward and depending on the Darden restaurant, the management might want you to go the extra mile and present the food in a certain manner but thats not bad at all.

    Pros

I liked the training. They did a great job in making sure I would not be lost on my first day of serving. It was also a great foundation for future Serving Jobs

    Cons

Minimum Server Wage so if the restaurant is slow you are out of luck

    Pros

Development is key here. Work-life balance far exceeds any other restaurant corporation I have worked for.

    Cons

In this line of work there will always be struggles with hours worked.

I worked at Darden full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Javier the GM is awesome! All of the managers work really hard to accommodate everyone's schedule the best they can.

    Cons

the servers can be whiney and don't appreciate when you help them. The guests that dine here are usually snobby and critical but that's no one's fault I suppose, just the crowd that is attracted to this restaurant/area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more long term staff. We trained so many crappy servers that left so quickly; it would be nice to hire more long term people that will be more reliable.

I worked at Darden part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people are amazing, and the systems already in place work very well, everything is always very organized, competitive pay for sure.

    Cons

poor benefits, processes in place are often changed or modified which can get annoying. For example, one month somethings designated spot is in the side closet, and the next you are being told that it has to be in the back for no real reason.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel like while there are many system already in place as far as running the restaurant, I would like to see more collaboration among the manager and general mangers, it always seemed like the manager were always unhappy with one another, and communication was a bit poor between them.

I have been working at Darden full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Great benefits as a company.

    Cons

Since the company is going through lots of changes with one of their flagship companies, an impossible amount of pressure is put on managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower your people. Reprimanding your managers every time they turn around is asking for failure.
